Terms of use

The agreement between you and FivePaths, LLC when you use gtfs.media, its hosted displays, maps, and APIs.

This page is about the website. It is not about the software. The software has its own licence, and that licence is free.

We do not promise that everything here is correct, or that the site is always up.

If you hire us, a separate contract covers that work.

1. Agreement

gtfs.media is operated by FivePaths, LLC ("FivePaths", "we", "us"). By using this website, a hosted display, map, timetable, or API, you accept these terms. A managed-hosting agreement between FivePaths and your organization may add terms to these; where the two conflict, that agreement wins.

2. The open-source modules

The gtfs.media module suite is free software released under GPL-2.0+. Your use of the code itself is governed by that license, not by these terms, and running the modules on your own infrastructure involves us in nothing.

3. Transit information and its limits

Everything a gtfs.media surface shows is generated from the GTFS and GTFS-Realtime feeds transit agencies publish. Arrival and departure predictions are estimates, and any of it can be wrong, late, or missing: a feed can lag, a vehicle can drop off the map, and service can change faster than the data. The information is provided to help riders and agencies, not as a promise that a vehicle will arrive. Plan with a margin, and treat the operating agency as the authority on its own service.

4. Acceptable use

  • Don't probe, overload, or interfere with hosted displays, maps, or APIs.
  • Don't misrepresent gtfs.media output as an official statement of a transit agency.
  • Use embeds and the API as documented; we may throttle or block abusive traffic.

5. Disclaimer of warranties

THE WEBSITE AND ALL HOSTED SURFACES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AND AVAILABILITY. TRANSIT INFORMATION SHOWN BY THE SERVICE IS NOT GUARANTEED TO BE ACCURATE, CURRENT, OR COMPLETE.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, FivePaths is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for losses arising from reliance on transit information shown by the service, and our total liability for all claims relating to the service is limited to the amount your organization paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim arose.

7. Changes

We may change the service or these terms. Material changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date; continued use after a change means you accept it.
